The U.S. saw the largest amount of net inflows in 2023, the net $561.57 billion was far larger than in any other region. Positive flows were attributed to S&P 500 Index ETFs, the top three funds received a combined amount of around $120 billion this year
ETFs tracking U.S. Treasuries were benefited with yearly inflows above $20 billion in iShares and Vanguard funds
Europe and AsiaPac regions recorded the largest outflows this year. The underperformance to the U.S. was evident in the broad Euro STOXX 600 Index which lagged the S&P 500 Index by almost 10 percentage points in 2023
When compared to world equities, the U.S. benchmark outperformed from May into the end of the year. World stocks rose by 19.4% this year, the Vanguard Total International Stocks ETF recorded net inflows of $6.94 billion
