šŸŒU.S. Leads Global ETF Inflows In 2023: Cable FX Macro

  • The U.S. saw the largest amount of net inflows in 2023, the net $561.57 billion was far larger than in any other region. Positive flows were attributed to S&P 500 Index ETFs, the top three funds received a combined amount of around $120 billion this year

  • ETFs tracking U.S. Treasuries were benefited with yearly inflows above $20 billion in iShares and Vanguard funds

  • Europe and AsiaPac regions recorded the largest outflows this year. The underperformance to the U.S. was evident in the broad Euro STOXX 600 Index which lagged the S&P 500 Index by almost 10 percentage points in 2023

  • When compared to world equities, the U.S. benchmark outperformed from May into the end of the year. World stocks rose by 19.4% this year, the Vanguard Total International Stocks ETF recorded net inflows of $6.94 billion
