  • Leveraged funds built net long positions in antipodes, CFTC data showed. As of last week, % of open interest in both AUD and NZD increased to levels not seen since early March

  • The move pushed % of open interest in NZD futures above its 5-year standard deviation band, last at 11.7%. So far this year, every time % of OI breaches its one-standard deviation band to the upside, positioning retraces over the following weeks

  • In the Swiss franc, % of open interest retraced to the highest since it turned net short in early March. Last read stands at -4.8% up from the prior week -7.0%. Hedge funds remain net short in CHF, CAD and JPY

Investing and trading involve risk. This includes the possible loss of principal and fluctuations in value. There is no assurance that objectives will be met. Do not risk capital that you cannot afford to lose.
