⚠️💱 JPY Sensitivity to Volatility Rises to Highest In G10FX: Cable FX Macro

  • For most of last year, our monthly Beta tracker has seen the dollar holding the highest B to the volatility benchmark in the G10, this is no longer the case. The yen is now the highest positive Beta in the group, this means that upside swings in volatility are reflected in stronger JPY

  • Previous readings had seen the yen having a negative B, meaning that higher volatility would not be benefiting the currency. The development was interesting as the JPY historically trades with a safe-haven profile

  • The CAD remains as the lowest beta in the group, this has been the usual ranking for the loonie for some time. The franc is no longer in the negative beta top rankings, while sterling is relatively neutral when compared to the Aussie and the euro
