*ICYMI: 🇳🇴Norway Inflation Rate Eases to 6.5% Y/y In August

  • Norwegian headline inflation slowed down to 6.5% in August from a previous 7.1%, this marks the first decline after six consecutive months of increases in annual prices. The consensus was expecting Y/y inflation to tick at 6.8%

  • The core figure eased to 4.7% Y/y from 4.8%, however, this was higher than the estimate of 4.5%

  • Inflation in Norway was dragged by a larger than expected decline in fuel prices.

  • Despite the increases in electricity prices, a government subsidy protects consumers from these being passed on, this means Norway will have lower headline inflation than most countries in EU, say analysts at SEB
