🇺🇸U.S. JANUARY INFLATION BEATS MEDIAN FORECASTS

*U.S. JAN. CONSUMER PRICES INCREASE 0.6% M/M; EST. 0.4%

*U.S. JAN. CORE CONSUMER PRICES RISE 6.0% Y/Y%; EST. 5.9%


The monthly increase was led by fuel's 9.5% rise, followed by an electricity 4.2% M/M. Food prices rose 0.9%, this was the most in three months. Shelter saw an increase of 0.3%, easing from previous. The largest decline was seen in gasoline prices, falling 0.8% from a previous 1.3% rise. Used cars increased by 1.5% on the month. The latest CPI report from the BLS has been adjusted, the weights are now reflecting consumer patterns closer to 2020 habits.
