🌐 March World Trade Declined 0.2% M/M

  • CPB's World Trade Monitor showed volumes declining 0.2% over the month in March and rising 2.5% Y/Y

  • Unsurprisingly, the largest imports contraction was seen in the Eastern Europe region, which recorded a 16.4% monthly drop. China imports followed with a 12.0% fall in trade volumes

  • CPB noted that according to their estimates, the Russian imports fell by 39.6%, however, they're surprised exports held as they rise 18.1% over the month

  • The region with the strongest exports was Asia ex. China (+5.3%), while advanced economies declined.
